To all supporters of Rubatsiro Ministries,We thank the Lord for your continued support of this Ministry and for the work He is doing through it! The last few months have certainly seen an interesting start to 2009 for Zimbabwe. The formation of the government of national unity has been treated with suspicion, both by those in Zimbabwe and internationally. The cholera epidemic continues, along with severe food shortages, all exacerbated by the current lack of donor support and inability of the government to adequately address these crises. The future in Zimbabwe is by no means certain. However, there is always hope and we look forward to the day when wholeness is once again brought to this nation. So we continue to pray and try assist those in Zimbabwe in whatever way we can. “Love each other as I have loved you” ~ Jesus
Food supportRubatsiro continues to send food support to Harare, where it is distributed to those in need by the Central Baptist Church Social Concerns Ministry. Two types of food packs are sent:

Excerpts from the 2008 Fathers’ Love Ministries Annual Report:“We can joyfully say that school fees for the whole of the 2008 academic year were paid for the intended beneficiaries as well as exercise books sought to assist them… food packs were distributed in early May… Later in the year, mealie meal (ground corn: the staple food) was distributed to further assist. It was an honour and a privilege to have witnessed the Ministry assist a young grade 3 girl, Privilege Ndlovu, have her eyes corrected through a surgical procedure… We aim to continue meeting the financial needs on the basis of school fees, food packs, stationery, as well as health care assistance for specialised cases ... This will continue until such a time that the target community group is empowered and able to generate a sustainable income to care for all their basic needs.” Mr Sheunesu Masuka Father Love Ministry Zimbabwe
Reflections a few months after visiting ZimbabweJoy Davidson writes:Four months after my visit to Zimbabwe I still feel the urgency of meeting the needs generated by the crisis there. It is amazing to see the faces of the people at the receiving end of the work of Rubatsiro. We must keep reminding ourselves that they are not just statistics but people, just like us, in desperate need of a helping hand, and of Jesus who can bring true wholeness. It is wonderful to come back to New Zealand with full confidence in the work of Rubatsiro, and in our partners in Zimbabwe! I have no doubt that Jesus is using people in Zimbabwe to be His hands and feet – there are so many people doing amazing work there with so little! However, they do need our support, financially and through prayer. I have come to understand that while there is plenty of need in New Zealand, and we could easily spend all our time and resources here, God invites us to look beyond our own boundary lines and to partner with Him in His redeeming work all over the world! How exciting, and what a privilege! So on behalf of all the trustees I again thank you for partnering with us as we partner with those in Zimbabwe. God bless you!
