Celebration!!!

At our last Board meeting we really felt that we had cause to celebrate and thank God for all He has provided so far.  Our goal at the beginning of the year was to reach $1000 in monthly contributions, last month we crossed half way and are now receiving over $600 of committed monthly gifts!  Along with one off donations, Rubatsiro has sent over $40 000 worth of food, supplies and other support to those in Zimbabwe.  We welcome Chris Parry, with expertise in PR and advertising, onto the Board and are excited to let you know that a branch of Rubatsiro is also being set up in Australia due to the interest there.  We feel blessed to be a part of God’s work in Zimbabwe and want to sincerely thank you for your partnership with us and for your desire to help those in this nation.  We hope that you can celebrate with us at this time!

To eat or not to eat…

Last week a report released by the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation stated that the world’s hungry has now topped one billion people!  It is indeed sobering to realise that while we sit down to three meals a day one sixth of the world’s population is starving!   With the UN predicting that 45% of the population in Zimbabwe will need food aid this year we are reminded that, while for us the recession means we may have to cut back on a few basics, for others it means they don’t eat at all!  Lets keep in mind the call in Isaiah 58 to share our food with the hungry.  Here’s are encouraging story from John Bell in Harare: “…the Peer’s, a Christian couple, are both in their late seventies, lonely but with some sort of an income as their children send them money. When the ministry visits this couple, we take a small package bought with money donated to the church, showing them love with a small gift in the form of food. Each visit uplifts this lonely couple in their time of need.”

Coffee evenings

To raise awareness about Rubatsiro we have held two coffee and dessert evenings in peoples homes this year.  These evenings are designed to be small and relaxed and to inform people of the work that Rubatsiro is involved in.  Two more are planned: Northshore in July and Onehunga in August, let us know if you would be interested in attending either.  Also, if you would be willing to host an evening in your area and invite people who you think may be interested in hearing some stories from Zimbabwe and about the work Rubatsiro does you can contact us on the address below.  Please also feel free to pass on names and contacts of any one you feel would be interested in receiving out newsletter.  We look forward to partnering with more people in New Zealand to support those in Zimbabwe.   Thank you again for your continued support, may God bless you as you bless others Rubatsiro contact details: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
